The Telkom Foundation is transforming education in South Africa by integrating advanced information and communication technology (ICT) into schools. At Kgola-Thuto Secondary School, teacher Makanke Ndaba shares how the new ICT lab has become a space of inspiration. Equipped with computers, servers, and smartboards, the lab allows students to engage interactively with lessons, making learning more relevant in the fourth industrial revolution.

The Foundation’s high school support program prepares learners for technology careers, ensuring proficiency in 21st-century skills like web development and data analysis. Students like Karabo Makhina now dream of careers in cybersecurity, thanks to the foundational ICT knowledge gained in the lab.

Beyond technology education, the Telkom Foundation introduced the Mzali app, improving communication between parents and educators. Parent Hilda Makhina appreciates the app’s role in tracking her child Karabo’s achievements, contributing to their impressive academic performance.

The Telkom Light Bulb platform offers free online educational content, significantly improving students’ grades. Through these initiatives, the Telkom Foundation is making a lasting impact, empowering young South Africans to thrive in a digital world.
